Two More Boys Reportedly Rescued From Thai Cave As Second Operation Continues

Thai authorities are being tight-lipped about who was inside an ambulance seen leaving the site of a flooded cave Monday, as they were the night before when four of the 13 people trapped inside the underground complex were rescued.

Thailand officials have not released the names of the boys rescued, so as not to upset the parents of any child still trapped.

Rescue mission chief Narongsak Osottanakorn said it had resumed, with divers re-entering the cave at 11am local time (4pm NZT).

The Royal Thai Navy Seals also confirmed that yesterday's mission was over.

"You can't make a horror movie that would even compare", said Anmar Mirza with the National Cave Rescue Mission.

He was taken by helicopter and ambulance to the same hospital in Chiang Rai where the first four boys rescued Sunday by a team of worldwide and Thai dive experts are being treated.

Authorities have said extracting the entire team from the cave could take up to four days, but two straight days of success raised hopes that it could be done faster.

Chiang Rai province's acting governor, Narongsak Osatanakorn, who is in charge of the rescue, voiced confidence Monday in the ongoing operation, provided the weather doesn't take a turn for the worse.

Thirteen foreign divers and five members of Thailand's elite navy SEAL unit make up the main team guiding the boys to safety.

Although the rescued eight were all presumed to be the boys, aged between 11 and 16, authorities did not reveal their identities nor confirm whether the coach remained inside the cave.

Officials said late Sunday they'd need to pause the operation for at least 10 hours to fill oxygen tanks that had been depleted during the first phase of the rescue mission.

There was no word on the condition of any of the people brought out on Monday. "They are now at the field hospital near the cave", Tossathep Boonthong, chief of the health department in Chiang Rai in northern Thailand, told Reuters.

The remaining nine boys are still at the location where divers had found them about 500 metres from the so-called Pattaya Beach.

"The four children are well at Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital". They have not been reunited with their families yet due to infection concerns.

The rescue team is scrambling to extract all of those stranded before fresh rains complicate the task or cut off access by increasing flooding in the cave.

"We have not been told which child has been brought out ..."

'The doctors are evaluating when the parents and other relatives can visit the boys in hospital.

"I'm hoping for good news today", he said.

They are the second batch to undertake the perilous journey out of Tham Luang cave in Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai. More worrying, however, oxygen levels in the chamber where the boys sought refuge were falling. Soldiers, medics, engineers and volunteers in yellow shirts milled around but the mood was relaxed.

"Give us three more days and the Boars will come out to see the world, every one of them", Maj.
