Just in: President Trump has interviewed Mike Lee for SCOTUS

Liberal media outlets are already targeting a potential nominee to replace Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court as President Trump eyes potential picks.

This also allows the President to change his mind before he introduces his next Supreme Court nominee from the White House on Monday evening, aides say. "We're going to give you a great one".

"The burden of proof is on the nominee to prove that they will proactively protect Roe v. Wade and until they do no senator, and particularly no senators who consider themselves pro-choice, should vote for the nominee".

The social media push is an effort to press the moderate Republican senator to vote against any Supreme Court nominee who would overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that established a constitutional right to abortion.

White House spokesman Raj Shah disclosed the conversations in a brief statement but did not provide any further details, such as the names of those who spoke with Trump. Republican and Democratic leaders traded accusations and barbed comments Thursday on the new vacancy, abortion rights and the debate to come.

Sri Srinivasan, a judge on the DC circuit court of appeals, came closest to be named but lost in one-to-one toss up in 2016, when President Barack Obama went with Merrick Garland, whose nomination was blocked by a Republican-controlled United States senate.

"I'm very proud of Neil Gorsuch", he continued. In an op-ed in The New York Times, Schumer said "the next nominee will obfuscate and hide behind the shopworn judicial dodge, 'I will follow settled law'".

"Trump has been loud and clear in saying he'd pick Supreme Court Justices to end Roe v. Wade", reads the ad.

Trump has also spoken with Thomas Hardiman, who has served with Trump's sister on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, according to a person familiar with the conversation who also was not authorized to publicly discuss it.

Judges on the list were selected by Trump and White House counsel Don McGahn on the strength of their conservative credentials, which appear in all cases to include an opposition to abortion rights and skepticism over same-sex marriage and other gay rights.

Interviewed by Trump during the process that led to the nomination and appointment of Gorsuch, he is the preferred choice of Senate majority leader and fellow Kentuckian Mitch McConnell.

Her traditional Catholic beliefs became a flashpoint last September during her confirmation hearing in the Senate.

But that too isn't guarantee that a future justice would side with conservatives. It's unknown whether the discussion was about Lee as a potential nominee. Collins, who appeared on ABC's "This Week" and CNN's "State of the Union", said she would only back a judge who would show respect for settled law such as the Roe decision, which has always been anathema to conservatives.
