Golden State Warriors 'Pushing' To Sign Jamal Crawford In Free Agency

The second year of the deal is a player option, league sources said, allowing Durant the option to return to the free-agent market in the summer of 2019.

Durant wanted to maximize his monetary value after his pay cut a year ago helped the Warriors re-sign veterans Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, while also adding Nick Young at the mid-level exception ($5.2 million). That included the splashiest signing of the offseason: four-time MVP LeBron James signing a four-year, $154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. Paul missed the last two games of that series with an injury, and the Rockets wasted big leads in both. Durant was set to become a free agent this week.

Paul George was traded to Oklahoma City last offseason from the Indiana Pacers and the Thunder have a good chance of winning an National Basketball Association title with him back at the helm.

After the season, Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Golden State would reward Durant with "whatever he wants".

The results these past 4 years really speak for themselves, and it's going to be interesting to learn just how long and lucrative of a commitment the franchise makes to him.

The game's biggest star will now lead a young Lakers team - run by Lakers Hall of Famer Magic Johnson - that has been overmatched in recent years while rebuilding. With the Lakers victorious, it pretty much cemented the team's route to their second straight title.

Lowe says that Crawford may be looking for more than a minimum deal, but Golden State won't be the team that gives him more than the veteran minimum, which will be a decent number for the 18-year vet.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Saturday because the deal can not be signed until Friday. Gay is 31 years old and he will need to play another big role for the Spurs especially if Kawhi Leonard doesn't come back.

Timberwolves • Derrick Rose and Minnesota will be counting on one another next season.
