'Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind' Trailer Is Bittersweet to Watch

Nearly four years after the death by suicide of beloved comic Robin Williams, HBO's documentary Come Inside My Mind offers an intimate look at his career and life.

HBO's Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind, which also reportedly features Eric Idle, Whoopi Goldberg, David Letterman and Pam Dawber, is scheduled to air on July 16.

Behind-the-scenes, Williams battled a crippling addiction to alcohol and some serious mental health issues, which eventually led him to commit suicide back in 2014. Not many had an inkling that one of the world's funniest entertainers was actually suffering inside. "Every person is driven by some deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep secret", Williams says in a voice-over. "For me, that's jazz, that's what I have to do", along with footage of Williams performing comedy sets at various times throughout his career.

See the trailer above. Martin then acknowledges that Williams, on stage, was "a master", but "off stage, it felt like he was holding himself together". "My father didn't always feel he was succeeding". This doc originally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

Come Inside My Mind does feature Williams uttering other bits of (resurfaced interview) wisdom, including "You're only given a little spark of madness, and if you lose that, you're nothing".

Come Inside My Mind explores the comedian's extraordinary life and career, revealing what drove him to give voice to the characters in his mind.
