Google has 'killed' its Tablets

This means a 28.2 percent fall on a quarterly basis, causing experts to believe that Google gave up on Android tablets. We haven't seen a tablet release from a major OEM for some time now, and it's not really surprising since Google barely acknowledges its existence anyway. So don't worry, you will still be able to see in a larger screen size.

With industry experts calling tablets and Android tablets not doing very well in the market outside of the Kindle Fire devices, it was a move that was expected by many.

That speculation yesterday gained further traction when the tablet section on the Google Store website suddenly disappeared.

Users can now add Google Photos to their home screen on Android or their desktop if Google Chrome is installed. The iPad will continue to sell for many years to come, but Apple is somewhat limited in improvements they can make to their tablets. It's not as if Google didn't try - in fact it tried extremely hard - at the tablets.

In response to a user on Twitter, Hiroshi Lockheimer, Senior Vice President of Platforms and Ecosystems at Google, replied that the tablet section's removal was just a bug that popped up while updating the website, 9to5google.com reported on Saturday. The tablet market is surviving, but not growing at a steady rate.

The tablet section was still up on Thursday. Over the course of last eight years, the company pulled out several stops to ensure that its tablets gain traction.

Google has always struggled to compete against iOS in the tablet market and is likely to focus on Chrome OS in the future.

Last week we put the best Android tablets of the moment in front of you with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 in the first place. So while it might still be running the life support machine, Android tablets are practically dead for Google.
