We Just (Probably) Learned What Year 'Wonder Woman 2' Will Be Set

The tease reads "WW84", suggesting the film will be set in 1984.

Wonder Woman has been the only DC film universe film that was an out-and-out success. The consensus reads, "Thrilling, earnest, and buoyed by Gal Gadot's charismatic performance, Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion". However this reveal confirms specifically what year the film will be set in.

Johns posted the image on Facebook while Jenkins changed her Twitter background. This means the sequel will happen 60 years after the 2017 original, which was set during World War I.

Gal Gadot is reprising her role as Diana of Themyscira, and the new film will reportedly be set against the backdrop of the Cold War. Kristin Wiig will join the cast, as will Narcos star Pedro Pascal. The original Wonder Woman took place in 1917; advancing the story by almost seven decades is quite the leap.

The first Wonder Woman movie also starred Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock and brought in $821 million at the global box office.

Wonder Woman 2 is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019, starring Gal Gadot as Diana with support from Kristin Wiig and Narcos star Pedro Pascal.
