Teacher Who Tackled Indiana Shooter After Being Shot Breaks Silence

Thanks to very courageous Teacher & Hero Jason Seaman of Noblesville, Indiana, for his heroic act in saving so many precious young lives. Seaman says her courage is "nothing short of remarkable".

- TMZ wrote that a photographer caught up with WWE Superstar and former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and asked her about Jason Seaman, a teacher who reportedly took down an unnamed shooter at the Noblesville West Middle School in IN on Friday (May 25).

The unnamed male suspect was taken into police custody shortly after the shooting began and Seaman and Whistler were transported to a nearby hospital.

Science teacher Jason Seaman tackled the armed student and is being credited with stopping the shooting. But he says his steps that day "were the only acceptable actions" to save his students. He spoke for just a few minutes and declined to answer questions from reporters.

Superintendent Beth Niedermeyer also spoke Monday, calling Friday's shooting a "horrible and senseless tragedy" that shook the community.

Janna Lynas of Noblesville, whose son was coached by Seaman in football, said the teacher is a hero "and everyone here feels it".

After the news conference, Seaman attended a Noblesville High School baseball game, high-fiving students, including many who cried when they saw him for the first time since the shooting. Seaman says he acted because he cares deeply about his students.

Republican US Representative Susan Brooks posted a video on Twitter saying she met Seaman during a visit to Noblesville West Middle School around midday Saturday. Seaman has been a teacher at the school for the past four years.

Ethan Stonebraker told ABC News that Seaman "immediately ran at him, swatted a gun out of his hand and tackled him to the ground".

School officials said Monday that Ella was improving and making progress while recovering at an Indianapolis hospital.

The school district will provide counseling throughout the summer and into next school year, Niedermeyer said. Her family has said she is in critical but stable condition. His shirt also showed the initials EW, honoring injured student Ella Whistler.
