Back-to-back: FSU drops Louisville, wins 8th ACC tourney title

The Seminoles (43-17) became the first team since Wake Forest in 1998 and 1999 to claim back-to-back ACC baseball titles.

Indiana's baseball team also is headed to Texas, as the No. 2 seed in the Austin Regional, where it will face Texas A&M.

The speculation entering the ACC Tournament was that the Miami baseball team had to at least reach the Championship game to have at best an outside chance at an at-large bid.

The Seminoles not only won their second straight ACC tourney title, but their third in four years. Arkansas was the No. 8 national seed in 2004 and the No. 7 national seed in 2007. The Gators took two of three from Auburn during the regular season, which began with Florida ace Brady Singer outdueling Auburn ace Casey Mize in a 3-1 win.

With the offense lighting up the scoreboard, the pitching staff as a whole continued to struggle as the game progressed through the middle innings.

They committed three errors - two by Mann, the second baseman - leading to four unearned runs for Florida State.

The game went to exta innings when Drew Mendoza delivered the key hit, a bases-loaded double, that scored two to give the Seminoles the lead. A double scored two runners and a sac-RBI at the next at-bat scored three runs in the final inning. Aliyah Andrews led off with a single back to the pitcher and Taryn Antoine followed with a double to left center.

During the NCAA's selection show on Monday, it was also revealed that Texas is the 13th overall seed.

Raleigh, a junior catcher from Cullowhee, North Carolina, earned MVP honors after batting.333 with a home run and six RBI in four tournament games.

Forced to a game three after falling in the second game of the NCAA Tallahassee Super Regional, the No. 11 LSU softball team's season ended at the hands of No. 6 Florida State, 3-1, Saturday evening at JoAnne Graff Field. "We still had energy going into extras".
