YouTube Kids Bolsters Parental Controls

YouTube Kids Bolsters Parental Controls

With Sleep Mode, parents can set a designated off time and each day at the designated time, the app will "go to sleep" and not be accessible to kids during those hours.

As far as what happens when sleep mode is activated, the app won't deliver notifications, kids won't be able to send or receive messages, and they won't be able to access the app's camera functionality, either. Even if the kid tries to open the app while it in "sleep mode", a message will pop up telling him/her to come back later. The company has recently announced that they will be introducing more parental controls to YouTube Kids where it will give parents more control over the content that their kids can and cannot view. "Parents told us they would like controls that make the app inaccessible at a certain time, like during dinner, homework time or bedtime".

The company says parents can now specify the times kids aren't allowed on - either as a one-time restriction or something recurring, such as after 9 p.m. every school night. After tapping on the name of the child, you'll need to tap on "Sleep Mode" in the App Controls. The app already has some built-in tools for parents, including giving them the ability to control their child's contact list. The app comes with total parents control feature so parents can setup things for their Children. Kids won't be unable to use the app during these times. Then, you can set the times that you want your child to not have access to the device.

What do you think of the idea of Messenger Kids in general?

Parents can access all of their controls from the Messenger Kids controls in the main Facebook app.

Since its launch in December 2017, Messenger Kids is facing widespread criticism for encouraging children to join social media. As anybody who uses Facebook regularly likely knows, having instant access to your friends and family can be an addictive experience - it's easy to unintentionally spend more time chatting with your pals than doing something more productive.
