It's official. OnePlus 6 will finally see the light of day on May 17.

OnePlus seems to have gotten a good idea of user opinion, as later on the company's CEO Pete Lau confirmed that users will have the option to hide the display cutout with software. In addition to its metal-and-glass body, the phone will support wireless charging and sport a dual-camera setup on the rear.

OnePlus has set a launch date for the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 5T, powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset, was launched a year ago in two variants, 6GB RAM with 64GB onboard storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs 37,999, respectively. This shows that the company is going to embrace two design trends with the OnePlus 6, display notches and glass backs.

The highly anticipated OnePlus 6 smartphone is coming soon as the firm has announced the date and location for the big launch event.

The OnePlus 5 went on sale for £449/$479 and then the OnePlus 5T was priced at £449/$499 five months later - the same price in the United Kingdom and a $20 price bump in the US.

Interestingly, the OnePlus 6 release date may also been leaked. The phone is expected to run OxygenOS based on Android Oreo and the company will likely include the iPhone X-like gesture navigation feature out-of-the-box. According to reports, OnePlus has plans to integrate advanced face recognition technology on the OnePlus 6. However, going by previous OnePlus launch teasing on social media platforms, the device will go official in the first week of May.

OnePlus has already said that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 will power the phone.

The OnePlus 6 will be backed 6GB/8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
