Murder Accused Lois Riess Arrested In South Padre Island, Texas

The case began last month in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Authorities believe Riess targeted Hutchinson due to their similar appearance and killed her to assume her identity. "We are going through all of them".

Officials believe Lois Riess used the same gun to kill 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson of Bradenton, Fla. Officers on scene subsequently towed the 2005 Acura, which is now being held for forensic processing.

"They will process the vehicle, they will process Riess' hotel room and hope to interview Riess about both homicides", Rose said.

The Dodge County Attorney's Office has not charged Riess with her husband's murder.

Lois Riess was arrested at a resort restaurant in South Padre Island, Tex., almost a month after her husband David Riess was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds at their Blooming Prairie, Minn., home.

The alert worker provided a description of the suspect and her vehicle.

South Padre Police Chief Randy Smith said his officers missed Riess by a few minutes, but quickly caught up to her. David Riess' body was found March 23.

A warrant was issued for Riess' arrest after local law enforcement discovered she had illegally withdrawn $11,000 from her husband's personal bank accounts. He said prosecutors in Minnesota and Florida were working together to coordinate prosecution.

Marceno said "thoughts and prayers" go out to the families of the two victims.

The search involved hundreds of hours of work for members of the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes the U.S. Marshal Service, the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the Fort Myers and Cape Coral Police Departments as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"We are getting a lot of tips right now, some credible, some not", Kinsey said earlier Thursday. "She can't strike again". "There is a legal process, so it will take a little bit of time, but we want her here in Fort Myers to face the charges".

One week ago Friday, Marceno implored media across the country to get the word out, and asked citizens to keep their eyes peeled for Riess.

ABC News has confirmed that Riess was arrested on Thursday night in South Padre, Texas.

After a violent streak, her apprehension came about rather calmly and without incident. "You all did a good job at pushing out our story and everybody knew who she was". Riess tried to make a $200 purchase at a gas station in Louisiana, authorities said. Then, she said, "Our eyes met, and my heart skipped a beat". He referred to Riess using Hutchinson's identification. "And yet she's calculated, she's targeted and an absolute cold-blooded killer".
