Body Discovered Near Site of California Cliff Crash That Killed Family

"What we think is she woke up and opened the door and it created so much smoke from the inhalation she just wasn't able to make it outside", said her mother, Amy Hester.

In this Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 photo, Portland police Sgt. Bret Barnum, left, and Devonte Hart, 12, hug at a rally in Portland, Oregon. Their movements at that point are not known. Three of their children, Markis, Jeremiah and Abigail, are found dead outside the vehicle. Authorities also found no skid marks at the edge of the Mendocino County cliff.

A search for the three children was postponed on Friday due to hard weather conditions.

A second welfare check at the Hart home reveals pets inside and conditions that show the trip was temporary, according to Clark County, Washington, sheriff's Sgt. Brent Waddell.

A comprehensive inspection of the SUV is now underway, CHP said.

"We have no evidence and no reason to believe this was an intentional act", Allman says. Investigators said they believed the driver deliberately sped the SUV, with the six adoptive children inside, off the cliff.

Police conduct a search warrant at the Hart family home in Washington state and seize a laptop and iPad. During a Sunday night teleconference with media, CHP said there was no note left behind and no obvious indicator in the Hart's home to explain what happened.

"It was pure acceleration. until it hit the bottom of the cliff", said Greg Baarts with the California Highway Patrol Northern Division.

The SUV had stopped at a coastal highway overlook before speeding straight off the cliff and plummeting 100 feet into the rocky Pacific Ocean below, officials added.

Searches of the area continue for the next few days, but Devonte, Hannah and Sierra remain missing.

"I'm to the point where I no longer am calling this an accident", Allman told HLN.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's office said in a statement that a couple vacationing along the coast saw a possible body, which was pulled from the surf Saturday afternoon by a third bystander. Hannah, 16, and Sierra, 15, have also not been found.

Family and friends of the Harts told detectives the family traveled together and was rarely apart, the sheriff's office said.
