Wisconsin unemployment rate reaches all-time low in February

Unemployment rates fell in Southwest Florida during the month of February while the rate held even statewide according to a report released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on Friday.

That broke the 4.4 percent record low reported in January.

Last February, the jobless rate in the state, was 5.4 percent.

The largest private sector percentage job gains over the year were in Construction; Leisure and Hospitality; Professional, Scientific and Business Services; and Other Services. "Not long ago, we were looking forward to just attaining that 'magic number.' We are consistently adding jobs to our economy".

TWC figures show the Texas economy added 40,500 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs in February, which marked 20 consecutive months of employment growth. If those people come back into the labor force, the rate could rise if job growth is not sufficient to accommodate those people.

During the 1999 period, the state's labor force participation rate was almost 73 percent.

Last month's unemployment rate also was down from 5.1% in February 2017, according to the monthly numbers. Over the year, Manufacturing gained 1,800 (+0.7 percent) jobs. It includes students, stay-at-home parents and retirees who are not actively seeking work and who are not counted in the unemployment rate. Indiana's total labor force is 3.3 million.

THE FACTS: Walker accurately points out that Wisconsin's unemployment rate hit a high of 9.3 percent in December 2010 and takes a shot at Democrats in one of the tweets by noting they were in charge in Wisconsin then.

The participation rate was realized as "72.5 percent with a 0.5 percentage point increase for men and 33.6 percent for women with a 1.1 percentage point increase", the institute added.

Alabama's unemployment rate is holding steady at 3.7 percent.

About 17.1 million worked in California in February, an increase of 14,000 jobs over January and up 383,600 from a year earlier. On the losing side, local, state and federal governments shed a combined 6,200 workers last month.
