When the Saints ended, Brees said he wanted to finish his career with New Orleans, and he stressed that again in this interview, saying the contract issue wasn't a problem because he "planned on being a saint for life".

METAIRIE, La. - Fifty million dollars over two years might not sound like much of a discount.

So close, they have just agreed to a new contract for $50 million over two years.

A reunion with Graham seems like a very realistic possibility, with several reports surfacing over the past week that New Orleans is a serious contender for him now that his contract has expired with the Seattle Seahawks. Sports, the Saints basically came to Brees and said "hey we're tapped out here" - it doesn't sound like they gave him an ultimatum, but it does sound like they gave him what they claimed was their best offer.

"I think that provides, certainly, the team with the most flexibility when it comes to being able to anticipate the future and the ability to acquire free agents and re-sign players on our existing roster that will build a championship team", Brees said.

One of the most prized free agents in the National Football League this year is starting to see teams step up.

Brees flat-out admitted he battled a "hard" decision on whether to take more money and "maximizing his value" for other players (Brees was heavily involved in the last CBA negotiations) versus taking less money and trying to win another Super Bowl with the Saints.

"I love the opportunity that we have in front of us, and I'm excited to be back".

The Saints will hope 2017 was not an aberration as they move forward with Brees under center. Do you continue to approach the game with the same sense of urgency. the same commitment to constantly improving and being coachable?
