Ex-Seahawks CB Richard Sherman visiting 49ers today

Richard Sherman dined with San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan in Los Gatos on Friday night, according to a report from the Athletic. It's also questionable when Sherman would actually be available to play.

"I want to go to a contender", Sherman told KIRO 97.3 FM on Friday, a flagship Seattle radio station. He has said that he plans to be running at full speed some time next month and will be ready to play by training camp.

He will be 30 years old going into next season and coming off an Achilles tendon injury that cost him half of the 2017 season.

And Condotta noted that money was a big factor in the decision to release Sherman, who is set to make $11 million next season.

"I plan on playing five or six more years whether it's here or elsewhere", Sherman said. Condotta says that the team was interested in trying to get Sherman to agree to a pay cut but that he "balked" at such a proposal.

No player more than Sherman reflected the intensity of the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry when the NFC West rivals jostled from 2011-13 was at its zenith.

While T.J. Carrie was the best cornerback the team had last season, he comes into the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

The Richard Sherman free agency tour could be over before it ever really even gets started. Saleh has implemented a defensive system that is similar to the Seahawks.

The cost-cutting moves will give the Seahawks an estimated $38 million in available salary cap space - they had $13 million at the beginning of the week.

"Would I go to a young secondary that is like we were when we were younger and help them grow and help them advance?"
