AS Roma set to rekindle interest in Riyad Mahrez

Riyad Mahrez has said his failed Manchester City move is "in the past" and insists he is happy to still be a Leicester City player.

Pep Guardiola's side had four bids rejected for the Algeria worldwide during the January transfer window, including an offer worth £60 million.

'It was a hard situation, but like I said, we've moved on now, everyone, the club, the chairman, me.

'To be honest, everyone has been very good and it's in the past now.

This could very well be Mahrez's last season at King Power Stadium, and with Eusebio Di Francesco a big fan of what he could bring to his team, still in search of that elusive Mohamed Salah replacement, Corriere are basically saying Roma will once again be in the mix come the summer.

Asked by Sky Sports if he could still move this summer, he replied: "I don't want to talk about this".

He added: "Manchester City is a good move for everyone, but it's the past".

"We will see in the summer if something comes but at the moment I'm a Leicester City player and I'm good here".

"It was hard but I spoke to the players, the manager, everyone. We are very far away from the transfer window".

The player who also refused to quash speculation surrounding his future, said he maintained a good relationship with the club.

"My mind, focus is on Leicester, that's all I'm focused on".

At that time I thought it was the best thing to do. "So I don't want talk about the transfer window".

Mahrez missed Leicester's games against Everton and Swansea during his self-imposed exile, with reports claiming he was distraught by the collapsed move and angry at Leicester for refusing to let him go. The club handled it very well.

"I can confirm that Riyad's page was hacked and that the post is not genuine", a Foxes spokesman told Omnisport.

When I saw that at first I wasn't bothering because some people have nothing more to do with their life.
