4th ODI: Kiwis chase down 336 runs, here're records broken

Batting first, riding on the sensational centuries of Joe Root (102) and Jonny Bairstow (138), England scored 335 runs for nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

The Black Caps need to win tomorrow to keep the five match series alive and Radio Sport will have live commentary on air and online from 10.30am tomorrow.

Eoin Morgan is determined that his England team will not curb their ambitious tactics after a collapse of eight for 46 wasted a position of enormous strength in the fourth ODI against New Zealand, and ultimately contributed to a five-wicket defeat.

"It's right up there [as one of my best innings] and it was nice to be there at the end".

Ross Taylor of New Zealand shows discomfort while batting.

New Zealand's chase then started disastrously when openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro both went for ducks.

Ross Taylor smashed an unbeaten 181 runs from 147 balls and the highlight of his innings were 17 fours and six towering sixes.

But the day belonged to Taylor, as he and Henry Nicholls successfully struck the three runs they needed from the final over to triumph.

The veteran right-hander - who turns 34 on Thursday - missed the third match of the series with a left leg strain and aggravated the existing problem when he dived during his innings Wednesday to avoid a runout.

Taylor's century was his 19th in one day internationals and his highest in 203 matches. In England, one can view matches on Sky Sports Cricket.

It came off 106 balls and included 14 fours and seven sixes.

Once Bairstow fell, caught in the deep trying to hit Munro for another six, England faltered, losing eight wickets for 46 runs.

England wicket keeping batsmen Bairstow, who was dropped on 74, and Root had taken charge with their dominant second-wicket stand as England's top order hit top gear for the first time since the opening ODI against Australia in Melbourne. Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes were caught attempting big shots, Buttler was caught and bowled by Sodhi and the slow bowler's flight deceived Moeen as he returned figures of 4-58.

59- Runs scored by England in the last ten overs for the loss of five wickets.

Former New Zealand captain Jeremy Coney: "Taylor is a tough rooster, he really is".

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat.

He was unlucky to reach a double hundred but then he would be happy to have remained unbeaten and see his side home and survive in the series.

"An outstanding performance from him and a great partnership with Tom".
