Rose Dream Big At $10m WGC-Mexico Championship

Rising Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma savoured a dream debut at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship as he fired a sizzling six-under 65 to grab the tied second place after the opening round.

The dropped shot moved him from 3-under and a share of eighth to 2-under and T13 though the tricky nature of the course means anything under par on day one was well earned.

"To shoot a great score against the world's best players, I'm delighted". I was very nervous in the morning, but very happy with the way I put it all together. He made six birdies for the round.

There is more than 25 hours of live golf available across the four tournament days, with the live Featured Group service kicking off from 5.15pm for the first two rounds on Sky Sports Golf.

Starting at the 10th Dunne was in trouble early on with bogeys at three of his first five holes before he pulled a shot back thanks to a magnificent approach to the 16th - his eighth hole - which spun back and lipped out of the hole, nearly going in for an eagle two. "The first 15 holes tee to green, I was really solid, hit a lot of fairways, a lot of greens". "I really kind of started on Tuesday, wasn't swinging it very well, and then yesterday I just was hitting it bad. You can't really not think, you have to really think and work it out before you hit".

As you can see in a video further down the page, Tony Finau hit a perfectly judged approach to the 6th green and as the ball landed past the pin, the backspin sent it careering towards the hole - much to the excitement of the local commentary team.

"It's probably the worst I've ever felt over the ball in my life".

The first of the year's World Golf Championships is living up to its billing with six nations represented in the top 12 players.

"I'm actually relaxed now".

"I feel like as a Hispanic and a Latino, I want to help out this community", Rahm said. You're always very happy when you start with such a low round, especially for me.

"It's the biggest tournament I've played in by a long stretch", the Briton said. "And I proved to myself that I can roll it, so I'll just do the same things that I've been doing", he said. He and Paisley were one stroke in front of Spain's Rafael Cabrera Bello and Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat, both in the clubhouse on five-under 66.
