Suns' Dudley says Warriors letting players coach 'a lack of respect'

Suns' Dudley says Warriors letting players coach 'a lack of respect'

From Stephen Curry to Draymond Green to Andre Iguodala to David West, the players took turns running the huddles.

"I don't think it's something we would do often, but I think it's a good exercise", Kerr said.

One player who was not pleased after the game was Suns guard Troy Daniels, who called the situation "disrespectful" and added, "I don't think it's hard to coach those guys, though".

Part of his success: Dragiev learned early on to predict the outcome of the game before determining how success trickles down to individual players, so he spent more time studying team outcomes than projecting individual players. Given how successful the Warriors were on Monday, who knows, maybe he'll give the players additional opportunities to play the role of a coach moving forward. Although coach Steve Kerr said the injury isn't serious, the Warriors may choose to err on the side of caution, as Wednesday's contest will Golden State's final game before the All-Star break. But for a team that has spent this much time worrying about its current form, and a general lack of focus, the fact that it has the NBA's best record and point differential is an indication of how strong of a position the Warriors find themselves in.

"We just figured it's probably a good night to pull a trick out of the hat and do something different", Kerr said. "I think that's one of the first things you have to consider as a coach". "I thought they communicated really well together and they drew up some nice plays". Of course, 39 of those victories were actually Luke Walton's, when he served as interim coach of the Warriors two years ago when Kerr had back trouble.

So, what prompted Kerr's decision to let the players coach? "I have not reached them for the last month".

"I'll just wait and see how my body feels and how my mind feels".

Phoenix is 18-40, tied with Dallas for the worst record in the NBA Western Conference, so Kerr could afford to experiment.

As he wasn't involved in the encounter, Green ran most of the timeout huddles during the game. "They are exhausted of my voice".

According to ESPN, Kerr told reporters that he spoke with Suns coach Jay Triano immediately after the game and explained that it had nothing to do with being disrespectful. Phoenix has lost 12 straight in Oakland, last winning here on February 7, 2011. Their 110.4 points allowed per 100 possessions is the worst in the National Basketball Association.
