This Hawaiian Airlines flight did a time travel from 2018 to 2017

Auckland is roughly 23 hours ahead of Hawaii.

For the lucky passengers on a Hawaiian Airlines flight bound for Hawaii, a do-over came much sooner. However, the flight had to cross the International Date Line to reach Hawaii, where it landed on 31st December, 2017. The incredible time traveling flight was pointed out by the flight tracking website Flightradar24's Twitter account.

But it is not as uncommon as some might believe with planes crossing the International Date Line every day.

Flight HA446 wasn't the only flight that time-travelled from 2018 to 2017. Out of hundreds on board, a journalist from Washington was the first one to notice the time difference.

Another commenter remembered taking a similar flight from Australia. While others couldn't help but make plenty of pop culture jokes, from a confused Dr. Phil to Lost to Back to the Future. Something about the prospect of going back into the past is exciting. However, the flight was delayed due to some operational issue, which led the flight to take off at 12:05 am - a time by which the world had started welcoming 2018.

As a result, the plane departed Auckland at 12:05 a.m. on January 1 and landed at 10:16 a.m. December 31 in Hawaii, giving the passengers plenty of time to gear up for New Year's 2017, round two. So, it actually left at 12:05 am on January 1, 2018.
