All of this was established before the Knights went out and beat the Auburn Tigers, staking a legitimate claim to the title. A billboard has gone up in Tuscaloosa, allegedly paid for by UCF fans and it's sure to be noticed.

"Congratulations Alabama!" the sign reads.

2, the Prince George Journal sent out a press release declaring the University of Central Florida Knights national champions of college football by virtue of their 34-27 Peach Bowl victory over Auburn on January 1.

Combine that with the Peach Bowl win over Auburn, and UCF has a respectable three wins over Top 20 teams in this set of rankings.

Alabama (13-1, 7-1 SEC) finished No. 1 in the season's final AP Top 25 Poll following its 26-23 overtime win over Georgia on Monday night.

"Florida is home to the country's best college football, and this season, UCF proved to the world that they can beat any team".

As you may not have heard, the University of Central Florida Knights also won the national championship. according to UCF fans, at least. The Knights defeated the Crimson Tide 40-38 back in 2000 in the first and only meeting between the two schools. In the end, it's all in good fun, from one 2017 national champion to another.
