Charles Woodson to be inducted into College Football Hall of Fame

Woodson, 41, helped lead the Wolverines to their 1997 co-national championship, earning first-team All-American Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors while claiming the prestigious Heisman Trophy. They also will be honored at their respective schools at an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments, during the 2018 season.

Other notable names who are part of the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2018 include: Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer, Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Miami safety Ed Reed and MI cornerback Charles Woodson.

Brown, 66, is one of 13 that will be inducted in the 2018 class.

The legendary MI defensive back was informed on Sunday during ESPN's "NFL Countdown" that he will be inducted into the 2018 College Football Hall of Fame. Taylor started every game of his junior season at center with the exception of the Orange Bowl win over Virginia Tech (started at left guard) as the team finished 11-2.

He led the Tar Heels to national prominence during the mid 1990s, and he later won the 2005 national championship with the Longhorns.

Taylor had his No. 67 jersey retired by the Huskers in 1998.

Reed will join a class that includes quarterbacks Kerry Collins (Penn State) and Dave Dickenson (Montana), running backs Paul Palmer (Temple) and Trevor Cobb (Rice), wide receiver Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech), offensive linemen Matt Stinchcomb (Georgia) and Aaron Taylor (Nebraska), linebacker Dana Howard (Illinois), defensive back Charles Woodson (Michigan) and coaches Frank Beamer (Virginia Tech, Murray State), Mack Brown (Texas, North Carolina, Tulane, Appalachian State) and Mel Tjeerdsma (Northwest Missouri State, Austin College).

Taylor will be the 18th former NU player to go into the College Football Hall of Fame, and the Huskers have 24 overall inductees when including six former coaches.
