Shirley Van Dyke, his wife, told TMZ Jerry Van Dyke's health had been in decline since a auto accident two years ago. She says they were involved in a auto accident over 2 years ago. and Jerry's health had deteriorated since.

Comedian Jerry Van Dyke has passed away at the age of 86.

Van Dyke made his acting debut on his older brother's show, The Dick Van Dyke Show and was a regular on "The Judy Garland Show". "Coach" co-star Craig T. Nelson released a statement to Eyewitness News, saying he is incredibly sad to hear of his passing.

Running for nine seasons, from 1989 to 1997, the show earned Van Dyke four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Born and raised in Danville, Illi., Van Dyke started in stand-up before appearing on his brother's series in the early 1960s. He also had major roles on "Yes, Dear" and most recently, "The Middle".
