Mourinho hits back at Conte, raises match-fixing

Earlier, the Manchester United manager took a dig at Conte and Jurgen Klopp by stating that the duo are "clowns" who "over-react" in their allocated technical areas.

The Italian tactician said: "I think he has to see himself in the past, maybe he was speaking about himself in the past, yeah? Sometimes people can forget what they did in the past". There is no love lost between the pair and the Chelsea manager felt his patience snap after hearing comments from Mourinho on Thursday.

Conte succeeded Mourinho as Chelsea's full-time manager.

"I don't know because in my one year and a half I never talk about other coaches or if I did, only to make compliments", he said.

"What never happened to me - and will never happen - is to be suspended for match fixing".

The Blues' boss further added: "When you forgot what you say in the past, your behaviours, and when you totally forgot, you must be anxious as it means you are becoming old and you need a check. He went away but continues to look here".

Or a similar incident while Mourinho was in charge of Chelsea, when the London club scored late to eliminate Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League in 2014.

This particular issue between the two managers first reared its head after the Blues' 4-0 win over United at Stamford Bridge last season, when Mourinho accused Conte of trying to humiliate him with his over-the-top celebrations.

The Italian was alleged to have failed to report fixing in a match between Siena and Albinoleffe in the 2010-11 season and was originally banned for 10 months in the scandal, then saw theat reduced to four, which he served before eventually being retrospectively acquitted in 2016.

Chelsea later tried to distance Conte from claims he had suggested his rival has dementia, saying he simply meant amnesia.

Inter Milan retain a long-standing interest in their former midfielder, and the fact Simeone speaks very little English could also influence whatever decision he chooses to make. I am improving a bit my English, because this is the real problem for me, otherwise we can go, we can go to fight.

"So wrong question and obviously a strong answer but I don't blame, the only thing I want to say to end the story is yes I made mistakes in the past on the touchline, yes I will make less but I think I will still make a few".
