Death toll in terrorist attack in Kabul rises to 20 people

"We are grieved at the loss of precious lives in this terrorist attack and express our heartfelt condolences with the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones and pray for the early recovery of the injured".

A suicide attacker blew himself up near the crowd of police and protesters, killing at least 11 people and wounding 25 others, officials said.

Pakistan will continue to take every possible step to defeat the monster of terrorism, the foreign office said.

The blast occurred at about 8.30pm on Thursday when police forces were carrying out a raid against illegal drug alcohol trade.

According to reports, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) loyalists have claimed responsibility behind the attack.

The casualties have been confirmed by Kabul Police.

The blast stripped bark from trees and shattered windows of nearby apartments, underscoring the devastating force of a single suicide bomber.
