Familiar names lead the list of top vote-getters with Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo receiving the most among all players so far. He only trailed Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James.

In the Eastern Conference, Antetokounmpo (863,416), James (856,080) and Philadelphia's Joel Embiid were the top three frontcourt players in the first fan vote.

Simmons is now sitting in the fourth spot behind Kyrie Irving, DeMar DeRozan, and Victor Oladipo in the East guards category. Behind James, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant vie to be the superstar of this generation.

"Under the revamped format, two captains will draft the 2018 All-Star teams from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves, making selections without regard for conference affiliation". The captains will be the All-Star starters from each conference who receive the most fan votes in respective conferences.

Starters and All-Star captains will be announced January 18, and reserves (picked by coaches) will be announced January 23.

The setup for this year's All-Star Game, which will be played in Los Angeles on February 18, is different from the traditional format in which the two conferences played against each other.

Like previous seasons, the starters will be determined by the fan vote (50 percent) as well as a vote among current players and media (25 percent each).

Here are the total votes for each conference. The five players (two guards and three frontcourt players) with the best score in each conference will be named NBA All-Star Game starters. Rockets fans, it's time to start voting.

Through 38 games, the two-time All-Star MVP is averaging 27.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and a career-high 9.1 assists per game.

This shows the growing popularity of the "Greek Freak" and how he is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting players to watch on the court.
