Powerball, Mega Millions jackpots now total more than $780 million

Both lotto games had their most recent jackpot wins in late October.

The jackpot was initially estimated at $384 million (or a $242.9 million cash value), the fourth time this year the prize value hit the $300 million mark. The minimum jackpot increased from $15 million to $40 million but the odds of winning decreased. Two other tickets won a $1 million prize in this drawing; these were sold in New Hampshire and New Jersey. The ticket matched the first five numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, but missed the Powerball. There was no victor of the $390 million jackpot for the drawing held on Saturday, Dec. 30.

But like Mega Millions the night before, there was no victor to claim the Powerball jackpot, which led it to grow to $440 million, the ninth-largest jackpot in game history. Kum & Go will receive a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the $1 million-winning ticket at one of its stores.

No Powerball tickets matched all six numbers for Saturday night's $384 million grand prize drawing, sending next week's jackpot in the United States surging to $440 million, lottery officials said.

The drawings are held at 10:59 p.m.
