PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds hits a whopping 3 million concurrent players on Steam

The live servers for the PC version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) went offline for a couple of yours yesterday, but not because something was wrong. That's frustrating in any game, but in PUBG, it's a problem that can wipe out your entire match progress in an instant.

We have deployed a small patch to reduce the character position readjustment issue and further reduce intermittent in-game lag.

As part of this update, PUBG's developers have "removed some inefficiencies in server infrastructure and optimized in-game servers to alleviate the problem".

Well, luckily for us, Bluehole has been working on removing this issue.

Though the patch should help smooth things out, there is more work to be done. This is done to prevent you from being able to reveal enemy locations to your team mates... so, another unique tactic bites the dust. Moreover, the concept Ad has 70K+ views on Reddit and the one Microsoft has used bears an uncanny resemblance to the original with a few changes like the camera angle, switching the Xbox One S with a One X. This just shows the pure laziness by the Microsoft Ad agency and using other's concept art without giving the credits to the creator. Its developer is also spreading itself a bit thin, what with the Xbox platform recently gaining its own version, and a mobile game targeted at China is due to launch soon.

After being teased for months, PUBG was finally released as a console title on December 12th for the Xbox One, along with breaking out of Early Acess for PC users on December 20th. Furthermore, resuming a replay will take you to where you left off, so you no longer need to watch them from the beginning.

The most frequent complaint remains the game's tendency to crash, and the patch also promises "continued performance optimizations" and "a variety of crash fixes" to help combat this.
