The device still falls back on its fingerprint sensor for secure app activity like banking.

The talking point however is not the screen or its build, it's what's under the hood. On the power front, it packs Huawei's octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC backed by 6 RAM and 128 GB expandable storage. It has 4 x 2.4 GHz A73+ 4 x 1.8 GHz A53 10nm processor + i7 co-processor. It's the same setup that gave the Mate 10 Pro's camera its clever object recognition capabilities, and Honor tells us the View 10 will receive the same functionality. The Honor 7X also features a microSD card slot that can support cards up to 256GB. It features a dual rear camera with 16 megapixels and 2 megapixels sensors. In the front, a 13-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture has been provided for selfies. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0, Global Positioning System and FM Radio. The device is backed by a 3,750mAh non-removable battery and supports 5V/4.5A (22.5W) Honor SuperCharge fast charging technology.

The launch event will reveal the India prices for Honor 7X that run on Android 7 Nougat. Due out on the old continent at some point in January, the Kirin 970-powered phone is priced at a very palatable €499 and £449 for European Union territories and the United Kingdom respectively.

The back of the phone is less exciting, with iPhone-esque antenna lines at the top and bottom, with a solitary Honor logo and dual rear cameras. The phone also can be charged up to 50 percent in 30 minutes.
