Netflix renews Mindhunter for second season

Next year we're looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we'll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice.

Netflix has announced Mindhunter Season 2 on the show's official Instagram account on Thursday, with a photo and a short teaser video.

Mindhunter stars Jonathan Groff as Holden Ford, Holt McCallany as Bill Tench, Anna Torv as Wendy Carr, Hannah Gross as Debbie Mitford and newcomer Cameron Britton as serial killer Edmund Kemper. It follows the work of two Federal Bureau of Investigation agents (Groff and McCallany) in the criminal psychology department as they interview serial killers in prison, trying to understand the inner workings of their minds, choices, and behaviors. Netflix also needs some good fictionalized crime series - many of their shows don't take on this subject matter in such a way.

Season one of Mindhunter is streaming on Netflix now. The series is directed by David Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network, Zodiac), Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (A War, A Hijacking) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me 2 Kill Him?).

"Hopefully we'll have five seasons", McCallany remarked to Esquire. They interview and analyze serial killers who have been caught, in hopes of applying their findings to solve open cases. "The five-season bible I read was approximately a 60 to 70 page document that just laid out the broad strokes: a much more detailed rundown of season one, and then an overview of what potential subsequent seasons would look like".
