Free agent CB Darrelle Revis signs with Chiefs

The Chiefs dropped a Thanksgiving eve bombshell on the NFL with the announcement of a deal with cornerback Darrelle Revis, who has been out of the NFL since being released by the Jets ahead of the start of the 2017 league year. Revis is also one of the best trash-talkers in the NFL.

That wasn't the case last year, when Revis said he was "way over" his desired weight after having offseason wrist surgery ahead of a disappointing year with the Jets.

Bob Sutton told me years ago he lifted a lot from Rex Ryan's scheme to build his own with the Chiefs.

Revis is a seven-time pro bowler who can help the Chiefs on the defensive end.

"Darrelle is a proven player in this league and we are excited to add him to our secondary", Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in a statement.

Revis is making $6 million from the New York Jets this season after they cut him a year ago.

Revis joins a Chiefs secondary that is ranked 28th out of 32 teams in pass defense. His career numbers include 485 tackles (401 solo), 2.0 sacks, 137 passes defensed, 29 interceptions, six forced fumbles and 12 fumble recoveries.

The Chiefs have relied on young players already in house throughout this season in the hopes that someone would step up and lock down the role opposite Peters.

Darelle Revis has finally found a home.

Revis won his only Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2014 before returning to the Jets.
