MS-13 Members Decapitated Man in Maryland Park

Miguel Angel Lopez-Abrego, 19, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He has a bond review Wednesday at the Rockville District Court. Court documents obtained by the Washington Post say the victim had been lured to the park, possibly in the early spring, by as many as 10 gang members and then stabbed more than 100 times.

The documents allege that Lopez-Abrego helped dig the grave where the victim was found, and also used a walkie-talkie to alert the other gang members to the victim's arrival. The victim also had a rosary with him.

The victim, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, was stabbed, decapitated, dismembered, and had 'his heart had been excised from his chest and thrown into the grave, ' police say.

Court documents do not specify what motive the alleged killers had to commit the crime.

There isn't much known about the victim other than the authorities think he's Hispanic.

Montgomery County's State's Attorney John McCarthy has said MS-13 has been implicated in up to 18 murders over the past two years in Montgomery County.

The victim has yet to be identified.

According to Montgomery County police a male body was found on September 5 in Wheaton Regional Park located at 11715 Orebaugh Avenue.

He was missing a bottom tooth, police said, and wearing a large gray sweatshirt with the words "First United Methodist Church Laurel" written on the front when his body was found.

An informant told detectives about the killing in September.

The investigation shows that the MS-13 gang was behind the murder. The man's remains were where the informant said they would be, and he had injuries consistent with the torture the informant described. "On Nov. 4, ICE lodged a detainer on Mr. Lopez-Abrego with the Avery County Sheriff's Department in North Carolina after his arrest by local authorities". Officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a statement saying "Miguel Angel Lopez-Abrego, a citizen and national of El Salvador, is illegally in the U.S. and now in immigration proceedings".
