Right-wing groups can not deny Hindu terrorism: Kamal Haasan

The Hindu Makkal Katchi has demanded actor Kamal Haasan to tender an apology for remarking that Hindu extremism is alive and kicking.

"Earlier, the right-wing Hindus employed debates, and not force, against people of other religions".

Chennai: Raking up yet another controversy, Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan has said right wing groups can not deny the existence of "Hindu terror" in their ranks. "But now they resort to violence", Haasan said. Haasan said the right-wing groups which once relied on polemic to drive their rivals to aggression, have abandoned the old unsuccessful strategy and surrendered themselves to belligerence.

Haasan further wrote, "The right wing can not challenge talk of Hindu terrorists because terror has spread into their camp as well". The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has now responded to his controversial remark comparing him with terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed.

The past few months have seen the actor meet with political leaders from various parties. Earlier, Hindu extremists held dialogue, now they indulge in violence. He claimed that "Hindu terror" was not a new phenomenon. Incidentally, today's comments on "Hindu terror" also came in reply to a question posed to him by the Communist veteran in the same magazine on what he thinks about the efforts by Hindutva forces to denigrate the Dravidian culture.

Tamil Nadu won't accept Hassan with the kind of lewd politics he is trying to play and his narrow perspective has been left exposed in open with the kind of comments he has put forth in the column, added Narasimha Rao. "The people of Tamil Nadu will laugh him off". "If he has such an inclination, he should report it to the authorities".

"There's no Hindu terrorist group".

Haasan took no names in his column in the latest issue of Tamil weekly "Ananda Vikatan" when he alleged that right-wing outfits had "changed course". "The NIA should visit him and ask him if he has any proof,"' Swamy told a leading news channel.
