Surface Pro LTE coming December, but only for enterprise

"Surface Pro with LTE Advanced is the latest addition to the Surface family and will begin shipping to business customers in December 2017", said Panos Panay, corporate vice president of Microsoft Devices in a blog post.

"We thought it was unfortunate the report that Consumer Reports put out, partly used the methodology that is consistent with how you evaluate home appliances and applied it to laptops". But aside from news of a release window, Microsoft also offered an interesting at some of the engineering work that it put into the LTE model to keep it both thin and light, despite the addition of an LTE modem and antennae. In fact, it revealed the device on stage at Future Decoded event in London this morning, a business-focused event, highlighting its belief that the device will appeal more business users than regular consumers.

That will get you an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. There's a catch though - it will only be available for business customers, at least initially.

And Microsoft is making some bold claims for the device as well.

Each Surface Pro also features up to 17-hours of battery life.

The technology giant first announced its intention to introduce LTE to its Surface Pro back in May, and promised to deliver the device before the end of the year.

The Surface Book 2 will be available to pre-order from November 9th and will be available to buy from November 16th.

Panos said on Tuesday that the smaller model will be available in the United Kingdom on 16 November, with the 15in model set to arrive early next year.

The Surface Book 2 will cost from $1,499, for the lowest spec 13-inch model, through to $3,299, for the highest spec 15-inch model.
