Donald Trump Goes After Jemele Hill On Twitter After Her Suspension

The Detroit native is co-host of ESPN's 6 p.m. weeknight SportsCenter "The Six".

As he had done before, Smith declined to host Monday's SportsCenterwithout Hill, but this time the network had another anchor, Matt Barrie, fill in. Trump has said protesting players are disrespecting the flag and the anthem.

ESPN headquarters right here in CT were quiet on Tuesday, but the network's executive offices in New York City were anything but.

Hill told her followers that anyone who disagrees with Jones should stop watching the games and ultimately boycott companies who advertise with the Dallas Cowboys.

Earlier in the day, ESPN issued a statement on Hill's two-week suspension for a social media violation.

Last month, Hill referred to President Donald Trump as a "white supremacist", calling him a "bigot", and the most "ignorant" President of her lifetime on twitter, but was never disciplined by the network for her remarks regarding Trump. It's quite the contrary to executives behind ESPN, however, which released a statement from its official PR Twitter handle on Hill's suspension.

Hill recently sparked a firestorm when she tweeted that Trump is "a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself (with) other white supremacists".

Jemele was suspended by ESPN after a "second violation of our social media guidelines". Hill had come out to apologise stating that her tweets were a personal opinion and did not reflect the stance of the ESPN.

The debate over the National Football League players' protests has become more intense since President Donald Trump harshly criticized the practice at a September 22 campaign rally and challenged National Football League owners to take action. Hill, a prolific tweeter, avoided an outright apology, but said she regretted she "painted ESPN in an unfair light". ESPN or Hill can decide whether they think their current relationship is mutually beneficial. She has been active covering the intersection of sports and race for ESPN.
